While travel looked different last year, new trends are emerging that will influence how and where we go in the future. WHAT TO WATCH:
- CRUISING IS BACK! After a year without sailing, Celebrity Cruises announced the Millennium will start sailing from St. Maarten on June 5 and Royal Caribbean will set sail from the Bahamas on June 12. This is one more step in the right direction - the future looks bright!
- VACCINE ANYONE! The new break out cruise line, Virgin Voyages, who has yet to sail its first ship thanks to the pandemic, will require all passengers and crew to be vaccinated prior to boarding. This makes the third cruise line to adopt this policy: river cruise line American Queen Steamboat Company and luxury line Crystal Cruises have already announced plans. Crystal Cruise Line was the first U.S. ship to require passengers to be fully vaccinated prior to sailing on its ocean and river ships – “no vaccine, no cruise.” Will other cruise lines follow? Is this another right step towards a safe return to cruising?
- RE-ENTRY RESTRICTIONS! CDC entry requirements for international travel. Will the U.S. adopt the negative Covid pre-test for domestic flights as well?
- HAWAII NEWS! Hawaii is developing “vaccine passport program” to allow fully vaccinated visitors to travel its islands without quarantining.
