THE JOY OF PACKING DONE RIGHT!

Preparing for a vacation and can't decide what to bring or forget what you've already packed?

I don't know about you but if my trip is over three days, I usually start packing a month before...and tend to overpack...and then forget what I packed and have to go through my bag just to make sure what I packed is what I still want to pack!  A bit obsessive, I know.

Organizing and planning for a trip should be fun, not stressful!!!

So, here's a solution that might help.  It's a spreadsheet for planning what to pack without emptying out all your drawers and closets.  You list by morning, afternoon, evening, or event.

You don't have to follow it to a T; instead of listing by day or event, you can just list X amount of pants/tops/shorts, etc.

For some reason, "making a list, checking it twice" comes to mind.  You can easily head off overpacking: if you're going on a four-day trip and you list 10 shirts...you get the picture.  Check out our Trip Planner page for more great planning tips.  After years of overpacking and bringing home clean clothes, I finally learned - forehead slap #1

Forehead slap #2: packing cubes... priceless bundles of coordinated organizing.  I used them for the first time on a seven-day trip.  Put your stuff in (neatly folded, rolled, or bundled), then throw them in your suitcase or bag and voila!  Instant organization throughout your trip. AND you can pack twice as much stuff!!!  Okay, maybe I didn't FULLY learn yet.
